The traditional St. Martin's festival is also celebrated in Mallorca. Now there are even 2 events to choose from.
Saint Martin in Puerto Portals
On Saturday, the 10th of November, there will be a lantern workshop for children from 4 years on in Puerto Portals from 16 h onwards. Home-made biscuits will also be baked. Afterwards the story of St. Martin will be told and at nightfall a lantern procession through the harbour begins with St. Martin on horseback. The event ends for all participants with homemade biscuits and hot chocolate.

Saint Martin in Santa Ponsa
The second event will take place on Sunday, 11 November from 18 h in Santa Ponsa / Costa de la Calma, directly at the senior residence Es Castellot. The story about St. Martin will be presented, followed by a short lantern procession with St. Martin on horseback. You can still buy lanterns on the premises. Afterwards, sweet buns are available for the children.

Those who prefer the more traditional, typical German approach of St. Martin should definitely choose the second event. Here the Christian aspect of this church festival is more reflected and you almost forget that you are on Mallorca. Only the mild temperatures are a reminder.
