Public Holidays and Interesting Dates
Regional Holidays
The most important two holidays in Andratx are the patron saint's festival of San Pedro, the patron saint of fishermen, in the village of Andratx and the festival of the Virgen del Carmen in Puerto Andratx. A varied day and evening programme lasts several days, including traditional music, concerts, street parties and fireworks. On the 29th of June, the actual day of the festival, the fishermen gather in the port of Andratx in a procession around the bay. This celebration continues almost without interruption with the Virgen del Carmen celebrations in Puerto Andratx on 16 July. Here the statue of the Virgin is festively decorated and carried in procession from the church to the port. From there the statue is taken to a ship and leads a fleet of boats. A fireworks display closes the day. The festivities last several days, including a horse show and a "devil's dance".
