Detailed Information
The small village of Estellencs is located in the Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage Site and offers an authentic taste of rural Mallorca.
Estellencs is the village with the fewest inhabitants in Mallorca (it has just over 300 inhabitants), but it has its charming, clean stone streets, historic facades, bright flowers and rampant creepers. Estellencs asks little of its visitors, with just a few walkers and cyclists passing by. It is an ideal place for those who want to get to know rural Mallorca and avoid the many tourists.
If you walk through a village, you will see many fig and lemon trees, hear a crowing rooster, braying donkeys and the buzzing of cicadas. On one side you have the dramatic and changing face of the mountains, on the other the deep blue Mediterranean.
The west side of Mallorca, the rocky coast of the Tramuntana mountains, is an oasis of peace, tranquillity and tradition. The road that leads here is characterized by hairpin bends that promise an adventurous drive through the mountains, where you will be rewarded with far-reaching views of the sea and the rugged mountain landscape. The village, which lies between Andratx and Banyalbufar, is not easy to reach and there are probably more bicycles than cars. Apart from the few facilities that cater to tourists, such as the local bodega, agriculture is the main occupation of the village.
