Manacor region - Historically grown center in the east of Mallorca
Manacor is located in the east of Mallorca and is the historic center of the Levante Mallorquín region. The extensive municipality includes towns such as Porto Cristo, S'Illot-Cala Morlanda, Son Macià, Calas de Mallorca and Cala Romántica. Despite its size and large population, the region remains rural with around 20% of the area covered in forest. Archaeological sites such as the Dolmen de Son Vaquer and caves such as Es Picots Negres des Fangar bear witness to early settlements. Today, Manacor is one of the commercial centers of the island, characterized by furniture making, pearl manufacturing, pottery as well as liqueur and wine production. Well-known natural attractions such as the Coves del Drac and numerous coves underline the importance of the region for agriculture, viticulture and tourism.
