Concerts at Bellver Castle
This 14th-century Gothic fortification, just three kilometres from the capital, is very famous and well-known for its peculiar architecture and rich history. However, few people are aware of the activities on offer. For some years now, the castle has become a key cultural attraction for music lovers, as during the summer months concerts are organized in accordance with the castle's century-long history. Beaches and coves in Mallorca
Mallorca is synonymous with sea and sand. More than three hundred beaches and coves are spread along the coastline of an island rich in natural paradises. They are so varied that you can choose from an infinite number of landscapes, sizes, styles and locations. Our favourites are Cala Llombards, Cala s'Almunia, Cala Falcó, Cala Fornells and, of course, the famous un spoilt beach of Es Trenc which, at 2,640 metres long, is a paradise formed by dunes.
Festivities of King Jaume
From the 30th of August to the 10th of September, Santa Ponsa will host one of the most eagerly awaited festivities by Mallorcans: the Fiestas del rey En Jaume (King Jaume's Festival), which commemorates the anniversary of the conquest of Mallorca 794 years ago. One of the main attractions of the programe is the parade of Moors and Christians that will culminate in the final battle: the Ball dels Escamots on Santa Ponsa Beach. La Nit de l’Art Palma
The 27th edition of the Nit de L'Art, organised by Art Palma Contemporani, is here. It is an essential event for contemporary art lovers and will take place on Saturday 23rd September from 6 pm to 11 pm. Although the most important day of this event takes place mainly on the opening night, many art galleries are holding exhibitions for days or even weeks, which will also feature guided tours by professionals. Festa des Vermar in Binissalem
The small inland village celebrates the end of the grape harvest in mid-September for two weeks with a patron saint festival that includes multitudinous dinners, correfoc (devil's dance), parades, exhibitions and, of course, wine tasting. Basically, wine and grapes will be worshipped by all the locals who will decorate their village and dress up in traditional Mallorcan costumes. The most popular activities are the grape treading and the grape throwing battle. There will also be themed parades dedicated to the important fruit.
Exploring the Cape of Formentor
One of the most special excursions in Mallorca is undoubtedly to the Cape of Formentor in the municipality of Pollensa. Full of vertiginous cliffs, on one of them, at an altitude of 200 m, there is an important lighthouse inaugurated in 1863. It is also the ideal place to enjoy a dream sunset. However, you should bear in mind that traffic will be restricted until 30 September. The best way to get there is by public transport. The TIB offers bus line 334: Alcúdia - Port de Pollença - Faro de Formentor.
Mare de Déu de la Salut festivities
During the first week of September Palma celebrates the festivities in honour of its patron saint: the Mare de Déu de la Salut. The most important day is the 7th, as a multitudinous and imposing floral offering in the Basilica of Sant Miquel will honour the image of the virgin. In addition, the typical giants and big heads of the region, the caparrots, will parade through the streets. Other types of activities will enliven the celebration: traditional dances, craft and local produce markets, concerts, theatrical performances…
Festival teatre visual Sineu 2023
From 14th to 17th September, Sineu's visual theatre festival, Ciclop, will take place. During three days different types of events and performances related to contemporary theatre, circus, music and dance will take place. Local and foreign artists will take part. In addition, this year sees the premiere of Nit Canalla, a workshop aimed at young people aged between 15 and 25, which will consist of a performance in which they will receive help from film professionals. Elrow
On Sunday 3 September, Origen Fest, the largest electronic music festival in the Balearic Islands, will be hosting the Elrow party. This type of party has managed to distinguish itself from other similar events thanks to the incorporation of artistic and festive elements with an immersive effect. A must for art lovers and enthusiasts is to visit one of the most famous art galleries on the island, Gallery Red. An exclusive place where not just any artwork is exhibited and where, as they say, art meets design and fashion. You can find unique pieces of contemporary art, furniture from the 50s and 80s and vintage accessories of all kinds. Located in the centre of Palma, in a very important area of the art scene, the gallery is worth a visit.
